Thank you for all you have done in 2020 for our affiliate.  Out of an abundance of caution all in-person volunteer opportunities are suspended until further notice due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in our area.  This includes homebuilding and ReStore volunteer opportunities for groups, individuals and regular and skilled volunteers.

Construction Leaders Mike Jennings and Mike Reynolds will continue working on the Greaves-Kannon home, along with future homeowners Nikki and Alex.  Our Watauga Habitat for HUmanity Contractor, Jim Rogers will soon begin the the foundation on Sheila Potter's home.

We are committed to completing this home this winter 2021, though the cost of completion may increase because of rising construction costs and lack of volunteer hours.

If you were planning to volunteer with Watauga Habitat this winter, consider supporting a Habitat family with a donation to help build their home. All families pay for their home with a zero-interest loan. Your generous support is essential to keep our work moving forward so more families in our community can experience the safety and stability of a home of their own.

With the COVID-19 vaccine quickly reaching communities, we all see a light at the end of the tunnel and have tremendous hope that we will gather together safely,..sooner rather than later.

We build and repair homes almost
exclusively with volunteer labor.

Volunteer in 2021 and be a WARRIOR

Whether you’re a skilled craftsperson or you've never picked up a hammer, building with Habitat is a life-changing experience both for you and our homeowners. Sponsor a project, bring a group, or come on your own. We can’t do it without you.

Our build days are typically Wednesdays and Saturdays although special arrangements can be made for groups in advance. Please call our volunteer coordinator at (828) 268-9545 to sign up.

Before coming out to help, please watch our Job Site Safety Video. This video helps educate you about basic construction safety before you arrive on your scheduled build day. The video covers the most common safety concerns found on our Habitat building sites. We want you to have a safe and productive experience with Watauga Habitat.

Directions to our current project:

GreenWood: Turn left onto HWY 194 from US HWY 421 South at the Hardees red light at New Market Center. Travel approximately 5.5 miles to right on Big Hill Road. After approximately 150 yards, turn into Green Valley Elementary School. Take an immediate left onto GreenWood Valley Drive.  You have now entered our eco-friendly Habitat GreenWood Neighborhood.  Follow the road up the the hill until you see the children's playground on your left (Harris Park).  We are building a home for the Greaves Family right across from Harris Park, on your left, on Ernie Jones Road.  You can't miss it!  Email Allison at allison@wataugahabitat.org or text 828-406-0593 if you have any questions.

If swinging a hammer is not part of your skill set, there are a wide variety of ways to support Habitat. We will strive to put your particular skills to use to accomplish our mission.
